I've used Delphi since v1 and also Kylix since v1 for porting Windows apps to Linux/FreeBSD. However Kylix is getting long in the tooth (to say the least) and does not help with Mac OS X... which is where Lazarus and Free Pascal come in.
I'm in the midst of moving a Windows app to Mac OS X (Tiger) with Lazarus and, so far, it's coming along nicely.

About problems with forum. Probably you have a problem because of your mail server. Try to use another one - gmail.com for example.
